The GW-5625A is a tribute to
the first square G-Shock's. The DW-5000C was released in April 1983. In
June the very popular DW-5200C was released, produced in large numbers
for three years. In June 1987 the DW-5600C was it's successor, which was
produced and sold until June 1996, when the DW-5600E (the version with
Electro Luminescence Backlight) was introduced. The DW-5600E is still
produced and sold, which makes, along with the DW-6600 and DW-6900
(1994), this model a huge success. The DW-5600E also evolved to a
Tough Solar model (G-5600) and a 3-band Tough Solar Waveceptor model
(GW-5600). Many European and traveling G-Shock users are still waiting
for a 5 band GW-5600. Unfortunately this GW-5625 is still a 3 band
Waveceptor (1 band U.S. and 2 bands Japan).
